Dan Tearle developed an eye for detail from a young age and has been drawing and painting for as long as he can remember. He studied objects and people in his environment that piqued his interest and he'd spend hours drawing spacecraft, aircraft or anything that caught his eye.

He discovered that drawing something that he found attention-grabbing made the creation so much easier. Although living in the UK, he started to follow the sport of American Football in his teens. Drawing his favourite players and teams was a natural extension of his skills.

As he began painting more and more, his attention to detail became highly skilled and precise. Each new work, being carefully researched and planned to the best of Dan's (young and untrained) ability, became ever more intense and focused.

Dan is primarily self-taught, and considers himself to be constantly learning, always eager to try new techniques and styles of artwork. In addition to his football art, Dan does many commissioned pieces which cover a broad range of subjects and he is always intrigued when accepting new projects.

Dan works with a variety of materials, his primary choice being acrylic ink, but he frequently uses gouache and watercolour techniques, and has developed a personal style by combining these mixed materials to achieve a level of detail and realism that captures light and movement in his pieces.

Oils, acrylics and inks provide Dan with endless varieties on various surfaces and of all sizes. He believes that you can create engaging art with even the most minimal materials. Dan is establishing himself as a football artist; no mean feat living on the other side of the world from where the sport is most well-known, but is making inroads to becoming better known with football sport and art fans.

With commissions from fans, former players and even the National Football League's UK division to his credit, Dan is building on his growing list of clients; providing quality, yet reasonably affordable, unique pieces of work. Recently, Dan achieved national exposure in the USA by being invited to exhibit at the National Art Museum of Sports,’ ‘Football Invitational’ Exhibition. Dan’s painting of former NFL great Barry Sanders was on show for nearly six months in Indianapolis. Recently, Dan took an airbrushing course to improve his skills, and is enjoying adding this tool to his large repertoire to create even more realistic paintings.
